Polar Bear

I'd been itching for a good project to work on this past weekend. Okay, fine, I'll admit it - I was really just looking for an excuse to play with Cursor1. After getting my hands full, I ended up building a little app for my own use called Polar Bear. I built it to browse bearblog.dev/discover and read your kick-ass blogs.

I made it in the spirit of One-Thing Apps, all it does is integrate things ever so slightly closer to the operating system. Skin on skin.

What Polar Bear does

  • Displays the bearblog.dev discovery feed
  • Offers light and dark modes
  • Keeps the same style 2
  • That's it

What Polar Bear doesn't do

  • No login required
  • No tracking, analytics or cookies
  • No extra features beyond reading
  • No charge - it's completely free

You can give Polar Bear a spin if you'd like, it's available to download for iPhone's through Apple TestFlight (click here for an invite, it auto-approves).

There won't be any fancy new features down the line, but I'll probably push out some minor updates to dial in the UX as I notice places where things could be improved.

Polar Bear is gonna be staying exclusively on TestFlight. Think of it as a pop-up shop in the world of apps - here for a good time, not a long time.

1 I'm not able to use Cursor for my day-job for the time being, but it's fun for personal projects.

2 This is somebody's garden, after all.
